Building a list is extremely profitable. You can hardly find a website that Isn’t hitting you up for your email.
The money is in the list…..
That is completely true.
Why?
Building a list has several advantages, in fact “list-building” is more important than just about every other facet of marketing……
So why should I build a list?
- your list is warm. You’ll never experience conversion rates like you will with your list. They know you, they like you, they’ll buy from you.
- list-building is quite simple really, you’re not “selling” them anything (not necessarily) and (good) opt-in rates can range from 50 – 80% with targeted traffic.
- multiple paydays. Yes, you can market to your list forever. That is very very powerful. Even on successful aff. campaigns you’re getting 1, maybe 2 or 3 nice commissions but a list provides income for a long time
- brand development. Successfully branding yourself in a niche will increase your exposure to the community growing your audience. The more eyeballs you have on your content the more money you will make, simple.
- JV Swaps. This is a truly powerful concept that I have not used yet but the idea is this: you have a list of 500, person B has a list of 500 and then you each mail out an offer for one another mutually growing each others list. Leveraging the power of your list and (possibly) exponential growth…..
So What’s This MASSIVE List Building Pitfall Trey?
simply put, people build a list in the entirely wrong niche.
You must build a list in a dynamic niche.
let me say that again……
You must build a list in a dynamic niche.
A dynamic niche is a niche that is Evergreen, and is constantly evolving.
EXAMPLE: Internet Marketing
IM is constantly changing. The search engine algo changes, traffic strategies change, technology constantly changes, products are constantly being marketed.
Ask yourself this question before you begin putting some effort into building a niche mailing list: Is there an active, evolving community built around this niche? If you can answer yes, then you have a dynamic niche.
So why should I build a list in a dynamic niche?
Because a dynamic niche is a niche that you can consistently market too.
A lot of new marketers just pick “something” and begin to build a campaign around it. This is better than doing nothing of course, however their selling themselves short because they hae a very limited earnings cap.A Static niche is the complete opposite of a dynamic niche in the sense that there is very little change and you might be able to sell them one product, but without an evolving market one product will fill their appetite and you will no longer have strong recurring income.
Static Vs Dynamic Niche Examples
Static: ED pills Why = While there are a lot of new products entering the marketplace but there isn’t an active community of people who talk about ED pills or seek ED news, or rumors.
Static: big screen TV’s Why = there are a lot of new products being developed however this isn’t something (most) people collect or purchase more than once every few years
Dynamic: Internet Marketing Why = New products daily, constant evolution, large high-traffic communites, lots of “buzz”
Dynamic: Gaming Why = gaming is constantly evolving, new systems, mega launches, large communities (NOTE: physical products tend to have a lower commission so “gaming” isn’t the best dynamic niche to market too)
